It's truly amazing just how different siblings truly are.

Take for instance my youngest - she is truly a "water baby."

She has no qualms what-so-ever about taking a bath. She loves it - took to it like a fish to water.

My eldest - now that was a totally different story.

She hated the water. Would scream and holler whenever she got a whiff that it was bath-time.

I struggled and struggled to get her to take to it.

I spoke consolingly to her. I sang to her. I even bribed her! - I know, I know, that's sad.

Nothing seemed to work.

Until one stressful day, my wonderful mother brought over a bagful of brightly colored bath-toys.

"Here - Try these," she said, as she dumped them in my screaming toddler's bathwater.

Complete silence was immediately followed by squeals of delight as my toddler splashed and played in the tub, having the time of her life.

Why it never dawned on me to give her bath-toys during her bath-time still stumps me to this very day.

My screaming hate-the-water-and-anything-to-do-with-it toddler, was completely transformed.

No longer afraid of taking a bath, she actually started looking forward to it.

* Not Just For Play Anymore.

Ironically, bath-toys are not just for play anymore.

They are a great tool for soothing a nervous or "water shy" child; coaxing them and distracting them from the inevitable bath-time.

In addition, some bath-toys are educational as well, while other's foster imagination through music and wind-up action (http://www.water-toys.biz/BathToys.htm offer some cool bathtub toys choices for kids of all ages).

It's enough to make us adults get back into taking more tub baths.

* Bathtub Toys For Toddlers And Up.

What is so great about bath-toys is that they are not limited to toddlers anymore.

Bath-toys are now available for kids beyond the toddler stage.

More than just rubber duckies, tug boats and water flutes are available, a bevy of bath-time water paints (to let your child's creativity flow), water soakers (just for some plain old fashion fun), and water vehicles (such as cars or submarines) are available for kids of all ages.

So why not take the fear of bath-time away from your child. Make his/her bath-time fun and memorable.

From boats to submarines, car washes to bathtub paints, and plain old rubber ducky's - the options are practically endless.

Hello, hello, 2 years ago

I know, you think being from the same family they will be the same but I saw it so often they are right opposite. Then it is very hard to find the so called key to switch the little mind over.

Thanks for sharing.

I know Hello, hello! I still don't know why I didn't think of getting her bathtoys from the beginning. It really made a huge difference.

I discovered the bath toy phenomena in my 6 month old. She hated the water and would scowl, hold her breath and shake every time I gave her a bath. (I gave her a lot of sponge baths instead.) But at 6 months I was given a box of bath toys and she was doing her usual scowling in the bath when the toys were dumped in and she immediately started reaching for them, playing with them, splashing and completely relaxing. :)

I had cotton cloth books during bathtime when I was a baby. They can be washed in the washer/dryer too! I've also seen suggestions for adding food coloring to the bathwater, and food coloring mixed with liquid soap for "finger paints". I'm saving those tricks for later.

I love bath toys CP. They really helped my little one enjoy instead of fear bathtime. Thanks for the adding a few other suggestions as well.

Siblings truly are different - so true. I think of my two - and then I think of my own sisters and brother.

And about toys in the bathroom? When I have guests come to stay and it's bath time - it is the adults that get a kick out of the toys. Especially the rubber duckies.

Such a useful hub on so many levels Veronica Allen.

Rated up - yay!

You are so right ListLady. I found this out quickly and saw the need to adjust and adapt. As for us adults enjoying the toys....especially the rubby ducks....you are so right about that! Thanks for stopping by, reading, rating, and commenting.
