I Spy Eagle Eye Family Game Review - Persistence And Patience Meets Family Fun.
76
My family and I absolutely love the I Spy book series.
Imagine how thrilled were we when we took a recent trip to our favorite store,Target, and found that the I Spy series came neatly packaged in the form of a children's/family game.
Manufactured by Briarpatch; a trusted children's brand provider of fun, educational, and creative games for children and families for over 15 years; this fun and at times challenging children's/family game is perfect for hours of educational play.
* The Concept of The Game, and Why It's So Great.
The whole concept of I Spy Eagle Eye, involves teaching children that with a little patience and persistence, you can achieve just about anything you set your mind to.
Just how does a board game achieve such a vital life-skill?
Much like the series of I Spy books, the challenge comes from spotting one object out of literally hundreds of others on the same page. While some stand out more than others, certain objects may take a little more time and persistence to find.
Since we live in a society that encourages instant gratification, this game and series of books teaches children how to slow down, take their time, and find the fun and enjoyment out of achieving things with a little patience, persistence, and hard work.
Played together as a family, it allows time for open and relaxed communication, all the while teaching Mom and Dad a little patience and persistence as well - and boy do we need it!
* The Contents of I Spy Eagle Eye, And How It's Played.
The Contents.
While the game is available for different ages and in varying formats (i.e I Spy Eagle Eye Jr. and Preschool Game version, I Spy Bingo and I Spy Private Eye), the I Spy Eagle Eye game that I purchased includes:
- 4 double-sided game boards
- 30 double-sided cards
- 1 Bell
- English and Spanish written game instructions
How is the game played?
Made for 1 to 4 players, the jest of game entails that whomever spies an object from the double-sided card on the game board (that is being used at the time) first and rings the bell to signal as such, wins the round.
The winner then places the card in his/her keep pile and another game begins. The game doesn't end there however.
Depending on how many games you choose to play; say 6; whomever has the most double-sided cards in his/her stack at the end of the game wins.
What is so great about this game, is that when you think you've spotted a matching object what seems like a match isn't really a match at all.
In addition, if you desire to play a quicker version of the game, written at the bottom of each game board card are items to spy out as well.
Similar to the rules above; sans double-sided cards; whomever finds the most objects first wins the game.
* Why I Love This Game So Much.
In addition to the fact that the I Spy Eagle Eye children's/family game teaches patience and persistence, it is fun, entertaining, and provides the whole family with hours of together time.
Although the recommended ages of the players range from 5 to 10 years, it's truly a game for the whole family.
Even those younger than five can get in on the game by pointing out recognizable colors, shapes, alphabets, animals, or modes of transportation.
In addition, Briarpatch - the company that manufactures the board-game - has a reputation of doing its part to protect and care for the natural world.
It accomplishes this by only using recycled materials, and earth-friendly inks in the production of their board-games. This is in keeping with their model, "Good for Kids. Good for the earth. That's the Briarpatch way."
Therefore, due to the company's commitment, families can have a great time together, all the while assured that a product they've purchased is not harming the environment.
With a price tag that ranges from $13 to $25, I recommend the I Spy Eagle Eye children/family game to all.
No assembly required, quick and easy set-up, and Viola! You and your family are on their way to fun filled hours of searching and finding.

- Gifts for Kids: I Spy Toys and Games
A couple of years ago my sister recommended I Spy books to me for my oldest toddler, who was two years old at the time. I was at Wal-Mart, I believe, and had come across a boxed collection of I Spy A-Z books...

Veronica, we are twins... It's official. I can't tell you how much I love Eye Spy everything. In fact, I've been known to hog my kids books for so long they get mad at me. "But, I haven't found the screwdriver yet!!!" Have you ever seen the book Animalia? It has hidden pictures on every page. I spent days finding them, completely obsessed. Sigh. Anyway, I DID NOT know about this game. I'm so pleased to learn about it. We're instituted a family game night and love Sequence: Capitals. Another fun one is Pictionary Man. But, we're ready for a new one.
I totally know what you mean about patience. I definitely need to work on that skill myself. Actually, so do my kids, so this sounds like a winner. I will definitely get it. Thanks for the great hub. Take care, Laura
Thank you so much for a lovely hub. I still love playing and it definitely bonds you.

That's a good thing, and a very good hub. Families SHOULD spend more time directly with their kids, instead of in front of the TV all the time, and this I-Spy game sounds like a great way to do that.
